I created this look using an old jumpsuit and sweater from my closet! It had a belt around the waist that I was able tuck the sweater into for the illusion that I was wearing two pieces. It gave the jumpsuit a COMPLETELY different look and gave it a bit more of a classic feel. It also made the jumpsuit multi-seasonal by taking it from a very summery item to something I could wear in the colder months as well! I have always been really good at re-using older pieces to create entirely new looks. Actually, people that would come over and see my closet were always really shocked because it appeared like I had more clothes than I really did LOL. It’s all a matter of trying different things out and keeping an open mind.
I used to be so scared of stripes (or any patterns for that matter), but I love these “pants” because they are super figure flattering and elongate your legs! Since stripes are such a statement on their own, I like to keep everything else neutral and toned down, so pairing it with a white sweater makes it look so simple, chic and put together! I would wear something like this out to brunch or dinner, church – honestly it works for anything! Since this is a new outfit I have styled out of older items from my closet, I have some alternatives linked that will help you recreate it!
I liked these pants
You can find them HERE, HERE [I especially love this one for a transition into spring, and its on sale for under $100!], and HERE [ This one is on sale from $150 down to $50, and it’s available in nearly every size!! I also love the detail at the waist with this one!]
And I loved these must-have white sweaters
You can buy these sweaters HERE [ umm… how adorable are those sleeves?!?], HERE, and HERE [This one is on sale for $100!].
You could pair the look with a nude-colored heel and bag, or you could go with white like I did! And remember, you do not need a closet full of clothes to have a beautiful wardrobe!! You need staple pieces, statement pieces, and a bit of imagination. It’s trial and error, but sometimes you’ll surprise yourself that two things you didn’t think would go together end up looking amazing!
I’ll have a post soon detailing what I think are the essential wardrobe items that every girl needs in her life. In the meantime, let me know if you want more of these “old but gold” posts where I talk about how to re-use and re-purpose items you might already have!
XOXO,
Monica
